The AQUACEL® Ag BURN Hydrofiber® Dressing Reinforced with Nylon, silver-impregnated, antimicrobial, absorbent dressing is a soft, sterile, non-woven hydroentangled dressing comprised of Hydrofiber® (sodium carboxymethylcellulose) with nylon thread used to stitch bond the product along the length. The dressing contains 1.2% w/w ionic silver. The silver in the dressing kills a broad spectrum of wound bacteria. This dressing absorbs high amounts of wound fluid and bacteria and creates a soft, cohesive gel that intimately conforms to the wound surface, maintains a moist environment and aids in the removal of non-viable tissue from the wound (autolytic debridement).
Under the supervision of a healthcare provider, the AQUACEL® Ag BURN Hydrofiber® Dressing is indicated mainly for the management of Partial thickness (second degree) burns and wounds that are prone to bleeding, such as wounds that have been mechanically or surgically debrided and donor sites. Additionally, it can also be used for other indications such as diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers (venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers and leg ulcers of mixed etiology), pressure ulcers/sores (partial & full thickness), surgical wounds left to heal by secondary intention such as dehisced surgical incisions, surgical wounds that heal by primary intention such as dermatological and surgical incisions (e.g., orthopedic and vascular), traumatic wounds, oncology wounds with exudate (e.g. fungoides-cutaneous, tumors, fungating carcinoma, cutaneous metastasis, Kaposi’s sarcoma, and angiosarcoma), infected or painful wounds.
